Erasmus+ Group in Sucha Beskidzka! Zespół Szkół Szkoła Podstawowa nr 1 I Gimnazjum w Suchej Beskidzkiej was the host of the second LTT Erasmus+ meeting of the project “School Radio Waves”, which took place between 24th-30th April 2017. The main points of the meeting were ecology activities and “How to be a good reporter” workshops. Groups from Kecskemet (Hungary), Sant Agusti Des Vedra (Ibiza, Spain), Braga (Portugal) and Dobrich (Bulgaria) arrived in Poland on Monday afternoon and evening. They were welcomed by teachers and host families, who couldn’t wait to take their guests home. Tuesday began with a welcoming ceremony during which the Sucha Beskidzka school community had an opportunity to meet the whole Erasmus+ group. The guests, welcomed by the school principal, Polish project coordinator and the Town Secretary, admired the Regional Rubbish Creature Exhibition and presented their ecology activities results (Regional Rubbish Creature presentations and ecology poems). Then, everybody walked around the school, took part in an integration activities and attended chemistry and karate lessons. In the afternoon the group participated in the “How to be a good reporter” workshops. The group studied the arcana of the reporter profession, worked on the reporter professional ethic code, discussed the rules the reporters should take into consideration in their work. Students and teachers learned how to interview people and write a reportage. Later on, the project group took part in a town game. They walked around Sucha Beskidzka together with their Polish hosts, admired town monuments and listened to town legends and stories. They had to ask a lot of questions about Sucha Beskidzka, as the aim of the reporter workshops was to create reportages about the host town and Little Poland (Małopolska)region. In the town game final, the participants were supposed to answer the questions about Sucha Beskidzka. The Hungarian group got the most points and won the game. They received a prize, which was the Kicek mascot. On Wednesday, the Erasmus+ group went to Cracow to see professional radio reporters in action. The first point of the trip was a visit to Małopolska Garden of Art. Thanks to Mr Andrzej Czop, the Małopolska Garden of Art main sound engineer, they were able to enter the backstage of the theatre and learn how to work with professional sound equipment. The group could also walk on the main stage and admire unusual musical instruments. Next, teachers and students visited Radio Cracow. They watched a surprise piano concert by Hiroshi Kurotaki and then went to the radio studio where our students had an opportunity to talk to the radio reporter during a live programme. After that, Erasmus+ group walked to the vibroacoustics department of the Cracow University of Science and Technology to experience “real silence” of the anechoic chamber. Finally, it was time to walk around the most important places in Cracow. Sucha Beskidzka students, who were the guides, took the guests to Sukiennice, Wawel Castle, St. Mary’s Church and Dragon’s Cave and talked about Cracow history and culture. Thursday was the ecology day. In the morning the group visited the Babia Góra National Park and listened to an interesting lecture about Babia Góra flora and fauna. Then, everybody went to the Beskidzki Raj complex, where they had an opportunity to eat a carrot cake, climb a landscape tower or watch animals in a mini zoo. In the afternoon the project partners saw the Sucha Beskidzka waterworks, water conditioning plant and town laboratory and sewage treatment. The last point of the Thurdsay programme was writing ecology and Sucha Beskidzka reportages. Friday started with “polishing” the reportages. When all the groups were ready, they went to the Sucha Beskidzka castle where they attended patchwork workshops. During the workshops, all the participants learned how to use fabric to create beautiful ecology bags. After that, the group walked around the Mały Wawel Castle and then came back to school to record their reportages in the school radio. Saturday was the last day of project activities. While all the groups were editing their radio broadcasts, the coordinators met to discuss the project details and plans ahead. Next, the “School Radio Waves” teams gathered to evaluate the visit to Sucha Beskidzka and receive certificates. Finally, everybody visited a school “restaurant” At the Foot of Babia Góra and had a chance to taste various regional dishes prepared by the parents and students. The afternoon was left for sightseeing. Teachers, students together with their host families visited different parts of the region. They went to Cracow, Zakopane or Wadowice. The Polish adventure finished on Sunday morning, when all the delegations started their journeys back to their home countries in Bulgaria, Hungary, Portugal and Ibiza.
